Guess who is taking to the streets on motorcycles in growing numbers? Baby Boomers! According to the American Motorcyclist Association, the average age of their membership is 48. The only problem is that as the age of motorcyclist’s rise, so too do their rates of injuries and fatalities. All generations of bikers face threats from distracted automobile d drivers, but older motorcyclist should realize that their eyesight and reflexes may not be what they once were. Because older bikers may take longer to respond to highway situations, they should allow themselves more time to react by leaving more space between themselves and the vehicles ahead. Helmets always help to prevent serious injuries. Now that it is summertime – do an “insurance” safety check to make sure you have adequate coverage and limits. And here is to safe riding Boomers!
